Mr.   Ayo   Ojeniyi,   Chairman   -   Re-joining   the   company   as   Editor-in-Training   in   July 1976    was    like    a    “second    missionary    journey”.    He    first    joined    Heinemann    in December   1969   as   a   clerk,   immediately   after   leaving   the   grammar   school.   He rose   through   the   ranks   and   was   elevated   to   the   Board   as   Publishing   Director   in February    1986,    Managing    Director/    Chief    Executive    in    January    1995,    Vice Chairman/Chief    Executive    in    February    2010    and    Chairman/Chief    Executive    in November   2012.   He   is   currently   a   Council   member   of   African   Books   Collective (ABC) based in Oxford, England.

Dr.   Ikechuckwu   Achebe   (Alternate   Director   to   Professor   Chinua   Achebe)   -   A Senior   Lecturer   at   the   Department   of   History,   University   of   Nigeria,   Nsukka,   he   is a   Visiting   Associate   Professor   of   History   and   Director   of   Igbo   Language   Project   at Bard   College,   USA.   He   is   also   a   Fellow   in   Africa   Programmes   at   the   International Institute of Liberal Education (IILE) at the same College.

Professor   Pai   Obanya   -   He   joined   the   Institute   of   Education,   University   of   Ibadan in   August   1971   and   rose   to   the   grade   of   Professor   by   October   1979.   He   later joined   UNESCO   Secretariat   in   August   1988   and   retired   as   Assistant   Director- General   in   December   1999.   After   his   retirement,   he   was   appointed   the   pioneer Coordinator   of   the   Universal   Basic   Education   Programme   in   January   2000.   He lately   served   as   the   Chairman   of   the   Presidential   Task   Team   on   Education   Reform. A   seasoned   educationist   of   international   repute   and   public   administrator   of   high renown,   he   is   currently   the   Chairman   of   the   Board   of   West   African   Examinations Council (WAEC).

Mr.   Banji   Osunkunle   -   He   rose   through   the   ranks   and   served   as   Permanent Secretary   from   1981-1988,   having   joined   the   Western   Region   Public   Service   in 1969.   In   1988   he   was   appointed   Executive   Director,   Finance   and   Management Services,   Trans   International   Bank   Plc   (now   Enterprise   Bank   Ltd)   and   Managing Director/Chief   Executive   in   2000.   He   retired   in   2004   and   is   currently   the   Managing Director, OSFAD Ventures Ltd.

Mallam S.J. Aliyu, Managing Director/CEO - Mallam    S.J.    Aliyu     attended    Ahmadu    Bello    University,    Zaria.    He    was    an Information   Officer   with   the   old   Sokoto   State   Ministry   of   Information   and   later Head   of   Department,   Social   Science,   at   the   State   College   of   Arts   and   Science, Sokoto.   He   joined   the   company   in   1981   as   an   Assistant   Editor   and   rose   through   the ranks   to   the   position   of   Acting   General   Manager   (Sales   and   Marketing)   and   was later   elevated   to   the   Board   as   Director   (Sales   and   Marketing)   before   his   present appointment. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.
